CAVERN DIVING COURSE
The Cavern Diver course is the entry-level program to the Overhead
Environment. This program is designed to develop the minimum skills
and knowledge for Cavern diving, and describes the dangers involved
with Cave Diving. Planning, environment, procedures, techniques,
problem solving, and other specialized needs of Cavern diving
are covered. This course teaches body positioning (trim), buoyancy
control, emergency procedures, line following, the use of reels,
and propulsion techniques. Accident analaysis forms the basis
of this course with special emphasis on the unique environment
including silting, entanglement, disorientation, and equipment
modifications. The Cavern Diver course is in no way intended to
provide instruction for Cave Diving.
Course Duration:
2 1/2 days
Prerequisite:
Open Water Certification though Advanced Open Water or
beyond is recommended.
18 years old or 16 yrs with parents permission.
Components:
Classroom and Lecture
Land Drills
Open Water Drills
3 Cavern Dives
Final Exam
INTRO TO CAVE DIVING
This program covers the basic principles of actual cave diving
with accident analysis forming the basis of the training. Introduction
to Cave Diver follows the Cavern Diver Course as the second step
in the development of safe techniques for cave diving.
The purpose of this course is to perfect basic
skills and the mastering of techniques and procedures required
for the most elementary of Cave dives. Dives for this course have
limited penetrations so that the diver may progress into Cave
Diving at a conservative pace. The Intro to Cave Diving Course
is not intended to train divers for all levels of Cave Diving.
This course develops the minimum skills and knowledge
required for limited penetration (single or double cylinder) Cave
Diving with emphasis on dive planning, cave environment, procedures,
techniques, problem solving, and other specialized needs of Cavern
/ Cave Diving.
Course Duration:
2 1/2 days
Prerequisite:
Certified Cavern Diver.
18 years old or 16 yrs with parents permission.
Components:
Classroom and Lecture
Land Drills
Open Water Drills
4 Cave Dives
APPRENTICE TO CAVE DIVER
This is the third in a series of Cave Diver Development Training
courses. Emphasis is placed upon dive planning and skill perfection
through actual Cave Dives with the foundation of the training
placed in exposure to different cave diving scenarios. The Apprentice
Cave Diver course represents the first half of the training ultimately
required to complete the Cave Diver level, and is not intended
to prepare divers for evaluating all facets of Cave Diving.
The cave dives completed in this course are intended
to further develop the level of skill of the Intro to Cave Diver
and extend studentÍs competence through exposure to more
complex Full Cave Diving techniques such as "jumps",
"gaps", depth, distance and the full use of accessible
gas in a set of double tanks.
Course Duration:
2 1/2 days
Prerequisite:
Certified Intro to Cave Diver
Components:
Classroom and Lecture
Land Drills
Open Water Drills
4 Cave Dives
Temporary Certification
FULL CAVE COURSE
This is the fourth and final in a series of Cave Diver development
training. This course is intended to build a solid foundation
for "Safe Cave Diving". The course completes complex
cave dive planning and execution with previous course techniques
being refined.
Participants will perform and participate in
"Circuits", "Traverses", "Y's and T's",
Decompression, restrictions, and low visibility situations. These
dives are intended to bring together all aspects and facets of
preceding training and experience. All limitations of the previous
levels of training are withdrawn and upon completion the successful
candidate will be qualified as a Full Cave Diver.
Course Duration:
2 days
Prerequisite:
Certified Apprentice Cave Diver
Components:
Classroom and Lecture
4 Cave Dives
INTEGRATED FULL CAVE DIVER PROGRAM
An alternative to the listed "Modular Process" is the
increasingly popular "Integrated Full Cave Diver Program".
Participants who chose to complete their Cave Training in one
course are able to fulfill the requirements for Full Cave Diver
certification in as little as 8 to 10 days of training. While
previously outlined courses progress in stages the "Integrated
Full Cave diver Program" applies all aspects of Cave training
consecutively, utilizing Full Cave diving equipment (double tanks)
from the start.
Skill Training in the Full Cave Course includes,
but is not limited to: body positioning (trim), buoyancy control,
emergency procedures, line following, propulsion techniques, use
of reels, jumps and gaps, y's and t's, circuits and traverses,
restrictions, decompression diving, protocol, dissimilar tank
volumes, silting, entanglement, disorientation, task loading,
psychology in cave diving, equipment modifications, and problem
solving.
Course Duration:
8 days
Prerequisite:
Certified Open Water Diver or beyond (with 50 to 100 logged dives)
Components:
Classroom and Lecture
Land Drills
Open Water Drills
16 Cave Dives
